Temple Burn 2020
Participants can RSVP up until 7:59pm PDT to receive an email on how to join the event. The site opens at 7pm PDT, with a transformative musical journey performed live by pianist Murray Hidary. The Temple warm up program also features pre-recorded and live sessions offered by healers, speakers, visionaries, and performers sharing their gifts to facilitate healing and transformation. If you have already RSVP’d, an email will ba landing in your inbox soon.
The Temple warm up program and Temple Burn are on the same site, but they are on separate pages to make sure there are no delays of any sort. The Temple Burn is a 22 minute ceremony that begins on the site at 8pm PDT. The Zendo Project will be providing peer support for this event.
Ethereal Empyrean in BRCvr
The offerings present in the Ethereal Empyrean Temple world in BRCvr (Altspace) will be removed at 8pm PDT. This offerings data will be destroyed along with the hard drive. The Empyrean Temple world itself in Altspace BRCvr will be turned off at Midnight PDT tonight.
Offerings Workshop and Temple Download Website
The Offerings Workshop website will close at 5pm PDT, no offerings can be forged after this time.
The Ethereal Empyrean Experience (EEE 2D app) will no longer be available for download starting at 8pm PDT.
All data from the EEE temple and its offerings will be transferred to a hard drive and “burned.”
The Ethereal Empyrean Experience Live Hard Drive Burn
We’ll start the stream at 8PM PDT, with the actual hard drive dismantling starting at 9PM PDT. The link to the YouTube live stream will be posted here at 8pm PDT.

Temple Burn 2020
Join the community in witnessing the ceremonial burn of the Ethereal Empyrean Experience.
The Ethereal Empyrean Experience: A Virtual Temple for the Multiverse.
In late 2019, Burning Man Project selected “Empyrean” by Laurence “Renzo” Verbeck and Sylvia Adrienne Lisse to be the official Black Rock City Temple for 2020. As announced in the Burning Man Journal, “Empyrean was chosen for its lovely geometry and inclusive design, as well as for its strong leads and crew who have demonstrated the experience, integrity and feasibility necessary to create this unique space.”
Fast forward to Spring 2020, when it became clear the community would not be building Black Rock City this year. The Empyrean creators embraced the challenge, dedicating themselves to creating an inclusive, healing virtual Temple space where visitors can share, express, process, grieve, and heal during this transformative time. The result: the Ethereal Empyrean Experience, our 2020 virtual Temple.

Create a Virtual Offering.
August 7 through September 5
Offerings can be created through event week, and all offerings “forged” before September 5th will be seen in the Ethereal Empyrean Temple experience.
When we’re in Black Rock City, all are welcome to commemorate by leaving an offering in the Temple, be it a message written on the Temple wall, a photograph, or a personal memento. It could even be a musical piece, poem or performance.
The Ethereal Empyrean Experience team has beautifully translated this ritual to the virtual world, enabling Multiverse participants to leave offerings within the virtual Temple.
From August 7 to September 5 all are welcome to create an offering on the Virtual Offerings website. There you’ll choose from a variety of “venerated objects” in which to encapsulate your personal text, image, and audio messages. You’ll be able to create a Memorial, Affirmation, or Closure offering, select where you’d like it to be placed within the Temple, and choose if your offering remains private, accessible only by you via a highly secure protocol, or publicly viewable by the community.
When you visit the Ethereal Empyrean Temple, you will be able to visit your offering (if it was created before Sept 5th), and other participants will be able to view offerings that are not designated as private.

Just like the Temple in Black Rock City, the Ethereal Empyrean Experience is your space to grieve, set intentions, commemorate, celebrate, or simply explore, on your own time and in your own way. All are welcome throughout Burn Week 2020 to visit free of charge via mobile device, desktop, or VR headset. Each visitor will experience a solo Temple journey, allowing them to fully immerse themselves and be with the Temple in a way that is uniquely meaningful to them.
If you created and placed a virtual offering within the Temple, you can visit it and invite others to do so if you wish. And much like the physical Temple, you will be able to see offerings left by others that are not designated as private.

September 6, 2020, 8pm PDT
The intention of the Temple Burn Ceremony is to provide our community an opportunity to gather together around the Temple to reflect, release, and renew. The 2020 Temple artists Sylvia Lisse and Renzo Verbeck have entrusted Simeone “Eno” Scaramozzino and his MysticVerse team with the opportunity to design and deliver the 2020 Temple Burn experience, written and directed by Simeone.
On Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 8pm PDT, the Temple Burn Ceremony will be a 22-minute virtual “burn” event intended to inspire connection, contemplation, catharsis, regeneration, and transformation in a year when these are needed most.
By providing this experience in the virtual Multiverse, we are able to defy space-time constraints and share in this collective catharsis in a new and innovative way. In keeping with tradition, the moments of the actual Burn will be silent.
Leading up to the ceremony, the Burn to Transform program is provided to help people prepare, connect, and integrate the meaning and the deeper sense of the fire ceremony. The program features pre-recorded and live sessions offered by healers, speakers, visionaries, and artists sharing their gifts to facilitate healing and transformation.
As part of the program, composer and pianist Murray Hidary, who performs the live piano headphone experience held at the Temple each year, will stream a live performance on September 6th at 7pm PDT before the ceremony and at 8:30pm PDT after the ceremony.
In addition, Zendo Project will be offering peer support – before, during, and after the ceremony.

Looking Ahead: Empyrean on Playa.
Empyrean was initially developed and selected to be the physical Temple for the 2020 event in Black Rock City. Empyrean is now slated to rise from the dust as the official temple for the next gathering there.
Throughout their shift to a virtual Temple, the Empyrean team hasn’t stopped working on plans for the physical one. They’re still deep in architectural design, construction planning, engineering, and all the other logistics required to start construction – hopefully in April 2021.
The Empyrean Temple crew will be looking to the global community to crowdsource three elements of the physical structure: flags, pillars, and the nearly 600 panels that make up the “skin” of the Temple. The team has put these projects on pause as they focus on creating the virtual Ethereal Empyrean Experience.
