Burner Day of Reflection

Dust2Dust would like to invite Burners to an on-line Day of Reflection.

This is a chance to come together as a community to remember and honour those who’ve died during the pandemic, show our support for those who’ve been bereaved and acknowledge other losses and changes that may have affected us during the last year.

If you’ve loved and lost – if you want to pause and reflect – to honour and remember – or show your love and care for fellow Burners – then this space is for you.

Starting just before noon (GMT) the event will include –

11:55 am – a Meditation and Minute’s Silence – led by Bilal Nasim, mental resilience facilitator and trainer with Tough Cookie

12:15 – 1:45pm – a Death Cafe – hosted by Delightful Star, Founder of Dust2Dust

A discussion group where we will enjoy refreshments and discuss death, as a reminder to make the most of our finite lives.

2 – 2:45pm – Singing Over Bones TED talk – followed by a live Q & A with Dr Kim Bateman, speaker, workshop facilitator and author / storyteller.

A talk about creative outcomes to mourning that allow us to recognise, contain, release, and yet stay in relationship and keep loving.

2:45 – 3:45pm – Breathwork and movement – led by Nicola Price from Inspirational Breathing

Explore the heart opening mind expanding and spirit lifting power of the breath. Please note the preparation for breathing / contraindications here.

4 – 6pm – ‘Dust in My Eyes’ grief workshop – run by Sarah & Tony Pletts from LoveandLoss

A 2 hour interactive workshop to reflect on your experience of the year with optional opportunities to write, draw and move. Click here for more info.

6:15 – 8pm – a chance to ‘Bring Your Light’ to the virtual Temple ceremony

We’ll gather online at dusk with whatever source of light you want to bring – your el wire, a candle, fairy lights, flashing hoop – so we can light up together as the sun goes down, as a symbol of hope and solidarity, of light shining through the darkness.

Plus – a virtual Temple wall

Just like the physical Temple at Burning Man, this is a virtual space for your offerings, messages and dedications. Click here to add a message.

Whatever you’d like to contribute to the event, we’d love to hear from you!

From poems, sharing your thoughts, sharing art, describing experiences, music, your stories, stories from others, stories of help you’ve given or received, descriptions of how you’ve been moved, to performances, or hooping or fire spinning…

Use the form to tell us more. The shorter contributions are likely to be placed between 18:00 – 19:45 pm (and any long contributions more likely to be placed 14:00 -16:00 pm GMT). Click here to sign up.

This free event for Burners will take place on Tuesday 23rd March (GMT) to coincide with the national Day of Reflection and anniversary of the UK’s first national lockdown. Drop in or come for the day, wherever you’re based.

Dust2Dust are a group of Burners who create spaces to explore death, dying and bereavement with the aim of making those experiences a little less fearful and a little more hopeful.
